Three Rivers Drive Fire

On September 10th at approximately 0400, Box 1233 was sounded for a townhouse fire im the Unit block of Three Rivers Drive in Wellington Woods. Engine 12, Engine 6, Ladder 12 and Deputy Chief 12 responded with 12 firefighters. All units arrived at the same time to find a three story townhouse with fire out several windows. Initial reports from the 911 center reported there were people trapped, however, they jumped from the windows prior to arrival. An attack was made on the fire, with a second alarm sounded due to extension into the neighboring townhouses. After thirty minutes the fire was contained. All searches proved negative. Assisting units responded from; Wilmington Manor, Delaware City, New Castle, Odessa, Newport, Port Penn, Claymont, Minquadale, Middletown, Belvedere and Five Points. Units remained on the scene for seven hours. Crews from Elsmere and Holloway Terrace were called to the scene to assist with extinguishing hot spots after the fire was under control. Four residents were treated at Christiana trauma center. One firefighter received minor injuries but was not transported to the hospital. The fire is under investigation by the Delaware State Fire Marshal.
