CFC Units assist NFD with a Chimney Fire

On December 20th Box 0984 was transmitted for smoke coming from a chimney on East Main Street in Newark. Engine 9 and 7 arrived to find smoke on several floors of a three story house with some space being used for offices. Engine and Ladder 12 arrived next and assisted in finding the source of the smoke. As crews searched a heater and flue pipe was found to be on fire in the basement. Fire was then noticed shooting about 3 feet out of the chimney at the roof level. A 1" 3/4 hose line was used to extinguish the fire. All searches were negative and crews working for 30 minutes to overhaul the area and make sure the fire had not spread.
