On July 27th Engine 12 was on radio clearing Christiana Mall when a 21 box was transmitted for a Apartment fire with people trapped. Engine 12 added onto the box and arrived third. Squads 21 and 14 arrived 1st with a first floor fire with people trapped in the second floor windows. An off duty firefighter and the officer of Squad 14 removed several civilians down portable ground ladders. Engine 12 was assigned the backup line. A second alarm was transmitted bring Ladder 12. Command requested five BLS units bring Ambulances A12 and B12. Two citizens were transported in critical condition and two citizens were transported in stable condition. Companies controlled the first floor fire and checked for extension above the first floor. All remaining searches were negative. Engine 12 and Ladder 12 operated for one hour and thirty minutes.
