Structural Collapse - Defoe Circle - Woodland Trails

July 8, 2010 – At 1:46 PM the Christiana Fire Company (Stations 3, 6 & 12), Claymont Fire Company’s Collapse Rescue (Station 13) and the New Castle County Special Operations Technical Rescue Team were dispatched to a residential structural collapse on Defoe Circle in the Woodland Trails development. Assistant Chief 68B Matt Lutz arrived and established the Christiana Command. Chief Lutz confirmed a large section of the interior ceiling had collapsed. Crews from 12-6, 12-0 and Ladder 12 assisted in securing the scene. After the scene was secured Assistant Chief Lutz returned the remainder of the technical rescue box and held the Christiana Units while awaiting the County Building Inspector. BLS Unit A3 transported one resident to the Christiana Hospital. Units cleared the scene within an hour.
