MVC with Hazmat - Old Baltimore Pike and Salem Church Road

After clearing an MVC with entrapment on I-95, the Christiana Fire Company was dispatched to a three vehicle MVC on Old Baltimore Pike and Salem Church Road bringing Duty Chief Lutz(68B) and Rescue Engine 126 and 64. While crews controlled traffic and checked for injuries, they found a 5 gallon container of Chlorine in the trunk of one of the vehicles leaking and mixing with Gasoline that was also leaking. Crews evacuated the area and consulted the ERG and requested DNREC to respond. Crews from Rescue Engines 126, and 64 assisted DNREC units with containing the spill. Units operated for approx. 1 1/2 hrs. Chief Lutz had command of the MVC while Capt Anderson handled the Hazmat.
