At approximately 2230hrs on May 7th, Christiana Fire and mutual companies were dispatched for the report of a townhouse fire with a possible subject trapped, in the 400 block of Feather Dr. Wellington Woods. Engine 126, Engine 66, Ladder 12 & Command-6 arrived to find smoke showing from two floors and fire venting from the first floor rear windows of an end unit townhouse. Engine crews deployed attack lines to both floors containing the fire on the first floor of the town house, preventing it from extending further or spreading to adjacent homes. Ladder 12 searched the structure locating a 61 y.o. occupant on the second floor, pulling him to safety. He was transported to Christiana hospital with NCC medics where he later succumbed to his injuries. Crews operated for over 2 hours. Assisting companies were; Wilmington Manor, Delaware City, Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder and Good Will Fire Company.
