Propane Tank Fire - Bear

On Sunday August 5th a Box alarm was transmitted for a Multiple dwelling on fire in the Fox Run apartment complex. As units responded the 911 center reported the information they received is there is a propane tank on fire next to the building. Deputy Chief 6 arrived to find a 3000 gallon propane tank on fire with no extension to the building. Engine 10 arrived and reversed layed to a hydrant and supplied Engine 12. Engine 12 put two master streams in service to cool the tank. Engine 6,32 and Ladder 15 placed a water line in service onto the rear of the tank. Units cooled the tank for two hours until the arrival of the propane representative. The feed to the tank was then shut down and units continued to cool the tank for 30 minutes. The situation was placed under control and units cleared. E16,L17 and Command 12 handled a fire alarm while units operated in fox run.
