On December 29, 2013 box alarm 0980 was sounded for a dwelling fire Chestnut Hill Estates. Engine 12 responded with four. Units arrived and reported smoke showing. Engine 12 stretched an attack line but had a pump failure and was unable to charge the hose line. Engine 9’s backup line extinguished the fire. Searches proved negative. The assignment was scaled down to two engines and ladder. Companies operated for 30 minutes. There were no injuries

 

 

On December 30 2013 a box alarm was sounded for a house fire in Newark Oaks. Chief 98 arrived with smoke showing. Engine 9 established a water supply and quickly got water on the fire. Engine 12 arrived as the second Engine and took the hydrant. The fire was quickly controlled and the assignment was reduced to Engine 9, Engine 12 and Ladder 9. Units operated for 30 minute. There were no injuries.

 

 

On January 1st Box 1212 was sounded for kitchen fire in a private dwelling. The address was South Brownleaf Rd in Hillside Heights. Engine 12 and Ladder 12 arrived to find a small fire in the home with two people that were burned. An advanced life support unit as well as a basic life support unit was requested to the scene. The Ladder crew extinguished the fire while the engine crew attended to the injured persons. But patients were transported to Christiana trauma center for Burns. Units operated for 40 minutes

 

 

On January 3 a box alarm was transmitter for a fire it manufacturing warehouse on Bellevue Road in Newark. Engine 12 and Engine 3 responded. Engine 9 arrived to find smoke showing from a large warehouse. Ladder 12 as alerted on the assignment. The sprinkler system keep the fire in check as crews worked to extinguish the fire. A significant smoke condition was in the building. The smoke was cleared and the fire extinguished. All searches proved negative. Companies operated for one hour and 30 minutes. There were no injuries.

 

 

On January 5 box 1233 was dispatch for a trailer on fire in the Glasgow court trailer park. Engine 3 arrived with fire showing from a trailer. Engine 12 and Ladder 12 arrived next and acted according to SOP. Searches were negative and the fire was controlled. Units operated for two hours and 30 minutes. There were no injuries. On January 7th Box 2800 was sounded for fire in a vacant home. A member from station 20 arrived and reported a working fire. Engine 12 was the RIT Company on the assignment. Engine 28 and Ladder 28 arrived and controlled the fire. Engine 12 operated for 15 minutes before being released by command.

 

On January 11 box 1211 was transmitted for a aircraft on fire at the Christiana Hospital.When Engine 3,12 and Ladder 12 responded the 911 center stated the aircraft was a helicopter at the landing site for the Emergency room. Engine 12 and Ladder 12 arrived to find a fire that had been extinguished. The assignment was reduced to Engine 12,3 and Ladder 12. The area that was on fire was wet down. Units operated for 30 minutes.
